1. How are the job prospects/ placements for Engineers in UAE? This is important as I will be taking education loan.
BITS, Pilani-Dubai students are employed in world-class companies all over the world both through campus placements and their own initiative. The students employed through campus placement received an average starting salary of about Dhs. 8000/- per month with the highest salary offer being Dhs.18300/- per month this year.

2. Can the BITS, Pilani-Dubai students get admission in other universities for Masters programmes?
BITS, Pilani- Dubai students are pursuing higher studies(Masters) at Globally reputed institutions like IIM, Stanford, Cornell, Caltech, University of Toronto, Texas A&M etc. Please refer Alumni Info on the home page for the complete list.
3. If my parents working in GCC countries lose job due to recession and are not able to afford my fees, what options do I have?
BPDC will provide all assistance possible, like help in getting education loan from a bank or admission in a college/university in India. The admission of BPD student in distress, to a college/university in India will be governed by the rules and procedures for admitting candidates at different levels other than the entry level, of the target college/university and subjected to meeting the admission eligibility criteria of the target college/university.
4. What are the college Timings?
The college timings are from 7.30 am to 3.40 pm with 1 hour lunch break. Friday and Saturday are the weekly holidays.
5. Where do you purchase the Text books from?
The list of Text books will be sent to every candidate with the Admission Offer letter. You are required to purchase them from any bookstore in India or send an order to BITS, Pilani bookstore.
6. Is it better to bring stationery (register and notebooks) from India or to buy them in Dubai?
As most airlines levy a weight restriction of about 30-33 kg on the baggage, it is not really recommended to get registers & notebooks. But at the same time as the place is new for most students & there are initial restrictions on movement it is recommended that the student gets stationery items like pens, pencils, scientific calculator, light weight spiral notebooks etc.
7. Is there any dress code for the College?
Yes, All the students are expected to be decently dressed in smart casuals. Jeans and T.Shirts are also allowed. Boys are restricted from wearing very casual clothes like Shorts, Bermudas, Sleeveless shirts, Kurtas etc. The Girls are not allowed to wear Sleeveless Blouses, short skirts etc.
8. Do I need to take Medical Insurance/ is there a clinic in the college?
It is mandatory for every BITS student to have medical insurance. The Students must submit at the time of admission the proof of valid health insurance which can be used in UAE. Please note that health insurance taken outside UAE is not acceptable since such card holders have to pay the full bill amount at the time of treatment in UAE hospitals and subsequently get the money reimbursed from the country where the insurance has been taken from. Hence, its advisable to obtain health insurance cards from UAE health insurance companies only. The institute has made arrangements with a leading insurance company to provide health insurance to their students at a reduced cost.
A Clinic is provided on the ground floor of the academic block in BPD with a doctor and a nurse for first aid and treatment of minor ailments. A vehicle is available for the clinic for transporting students to the hospital in cases of emergency.
9. Do I need to carry laptop?
Yes, You can have a laptop. But there is really no need to carry one from home. For students from other countries, buying a computer in Dubai comes out much cheaper & the configurations are much higher. Computers are basically needed for projects & presentations in the college during the 1st year.
10. Do u keep a cell phone with you? How do you get a connection in Dubai?
Yes, a mobile phone is quite essential to stay in touch with one's family & also for day to day communication. Etisalat is UAE Govt's telecom company & they have prepaid phone sim cards called Wasel. There is also a private operator called Du which is launched recently and giving some attractive prepaid card offers.
