The BITS Pilani Dubai Campus celebrated the inauguration of Dubai 's only student chapter of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) on the 1 st of March, 2011. ACM is the world's largest and foremost educational and scientific computing society , having been founded in 1947 .

The occasion was marked by Dr. R. K. Mittal, Director, BPDC officially welcoming the chapter to the BPDC family and by the presence of the Hon. Mr. Premchand Kurup, CEO, Paramount Computer Systems and Mr. Ramesh Ramachandran, CEO, Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. . Ms. Susanna Henry and Dr. M. Madiajagan were later appointed advisors to the chapter.

The BPDC ACM chapter was originally conceived and consequently registered on 7 th December, 2010 with a strength of only 7 members. Bearing testament to the Institute's dedication to fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship, the chapter now counts amongst its fold 50 members that serve as a glowing reminder of the hallmarks of scientific and engineering excellence the Institute has come to be associated with.
